Homemade Essiac Tea Recipe

Here’s a simple recipe for making Essiac tea at home. This blend includes four primary herbs: burdock root, sheep sorrel, slippery elm bark, and rhubarb root.

Ingredients:

  • 1 part dried burdock root
  • 1 part dried sheep sorrel (leaves and stems)
  • 1 part dried slippery elm bark
  • 1/2 part dried rhubarb root
  • Water

Equipment

  • A pot
  • A fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • A jar for storage

Homemade Essiac Tea Recipe

Instructions:

 

1. **Measure the Herbs**:
– Use a measuring cup to blend the herbs. For example, you can use 1 cup of burdock root, 1 cup of sheep sorrel, 1 cup of slippery elm bark, and 1/2 cup of rhubarb root.

2. **Mix the Herbs**:
– Combine all the herbs in a bowl. Stir them well to ensure an even mix.

3. **Boil Water**:
– In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

4. **Add Herbs**:
– Once the water is boiling, add the mixed herbs to the pot.

5. **Simmer**:
– Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes.

6. **Steep**:
– After simmering, remove the pot from the heat, cover it, and let it steep for 12-24 hours at room temperature.

7. **Strain the Tea**:
– After steeping, use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain out the herbs, and pour the liquid into a jar or container.

8. **Store**:
– Store the tea in the refrigerator. It should last for about 1-2 weeks.

How to Use:
**Dosage**: It’s commonly recommended to take about 1-2 ounces of the tea, 1-2 times daily. You can warm it up or drink it cold, based on your preference.
